Manoos(1939)

Manoos is a 1939 Indian drama that explores love across social divides. When policeman Ganpat rescues Mainal, a woman working in a brothel, from a police raid, the two fall in love. Yet their relationship faces insurmountable obstacles: Mainal struggles with guilt and shame over her past, while Ganpat's respectable middle-class mother represents the respectability she desperately wants but feels she can never achieve.
