Oz is a dark fantasy film that reimagines The Wizard of Oz through a gritty 1980s rock-and-roll lens. Teenage groupie Dorothy wakes in a surreal, grimy alternate world after a van accident, only to discover her arrival has killed a local thug. A flamboyant gay fairy godmother named Glyn gifts her magical red heels and directs her toward the Wizard, an androgynous glam rock icon performing his final concert. Pursued by the dead thug's predatory brother, Dorothy assembles an unlikely crew: a dim-witted surfer, an emotionally detached mechanic, and a cowardly biker. As she journeys through this harsh dreamscape, the film blends horror, sexuality, and rock culture into a provocative coming-of-age story that subverts the classic tale with adult themes and surreal imagery.
