The Loop(2015)
The Loop is an experimental film exploring the erotic imagery in cinema through the lens of Ljubomir Šimunić, a Belgrade-based avant-garde filmmaker and photographer active in the 1970s and 1980s. The film blends Hollywood conventions with European underground aesthetics, tracing Šimunić's distinctive visual language as it searches for the elusive figure of "the shaman"—a mystical master of cinematic magic. Rather than conventional narrative, The Loop uses moving images themselves as its primary vocabulary, constructing a meditation on desire, form, and the transformative power of experimental filmmaking. It's a portrait of an artist working at the margins of cinema history, whose provocative approach challenged the boundaries between commercial and underground film.
