Akashi Kanpei 35-sai(1983)
Akashi Kanpei 35-sai follows a former police officer turned fish market auctioneer in rural Mie Prefecture who has settled into a quiet, solitary life after his divorce. When his ex-wife's daughter Hideko unexpectedly tracks him down and invites him to Tokyo, Kanpei abandons his carefree existence and moves into a crowded household with Hideko, her mother Chieko, Chieko's new husband, and his own younger brother. The series captures the friction and unexpected warmth that emerge when a man accustomed to independence must navigate the messy realities of blended family life in the city. What begins as a simple reunion becomes a journey of rediscovery as Kanpei reconnects with the people he left behind and confronts the choices that shaped his solitary years.
