Sasuke(1997)

Sasuke is a Japanese sports entertainment special where 100 competitors tackle a grueling four-stage obstacle course. Shot at Midoriyama studio in Yokohama, each three-hour competition airs on Tokyo Broadcasting System between drama seasons. The show has spawned an international phenomenon—an edited version called Ninja Warrior now screens in at least 18 countries, with Sasuke content reaching 157 nations worldwide. Produced by Monster9, the series evolved from Muscle Ranking into its own standalone program. Competitions run continuously from daytime through darkness, regardless of weather, testing competitors' strength, agility and endurance. After nearly three decades of specials, Sasuke remains Japan's most influential obstacle course competition, eventually rebranded as Sasuke Rising following TBS's acquisition of full broadcast rights.
