Three Generations of the Yagyu Sword(1993)

Three Generations of the Yagyu Sword is a samurai series set in the aftermath of the Honnoji Incident, when Oda Nobunaga's assassination reshapes Japan's power structure. Young Yagyu Munenori and the ninja Kizaru rescue a group of Tokugawa samurai from pursuers, earning Munenori a precious lacquered pillbox from Tokugawa Ieyasu—a symbol of future service to the clan. However, the Yagyu family faces ruin when Toyotomi Hideyoshi seizes power and confiscates their lands as punishment for their connection to the traitor Akechi Mitsuhide. As the clan nearly vanishes under Hideyoshi's rule, Munenori must navigate survival and honor across three generations, tracing the rise and fall of the legendary Yagyu sword lineage through Japan's most turbulent era.
