David Cassidy: Man Under Cover is an American police drama that launched four years after Cassidy's run on The Partridge Family. The series grew out of a two-hour Police Story episode called "A Chance to Live," which aired in May 1978 and earned Cassidy an Emmy nomination for Best Dramatic Actor. Cassidy plays undercover cop Dan Shay, who infiltrates a high-school drug ring posing as a student. The NBC series ran from November 1978 to July 1979, airing just ten episodes before cancellation. Cassidy reprises his Emmy-nominated role as Officer Shay, bringing dramatic weight to a show that captured the gritty tone of late-1970s police procedurals.
