West Point is a dramatic anthology series that aired on CBS during the 1956–57 season and ABC the following year. Produced with full cooperation from the U.S. Department of Defense and Military Academy, the show drew from actual files documenting real incidents at the academy, though names and dates were changed to protect privacy. Each episode dramatized a different cadet's struggle, initially guided by fictional host Charles C. Thompson before that framing device was dropped. The series competed against NBC's The Californians and CBS's The $64,000 Question during its second run, ultimately giving way to Jack Wyatt's Confession in summer 1958. West Point arrived amid a wave of military dramas including Navy Log, Harbor Command, and Men of Annapolis, reflecting postwar America's fascination with armed service stories.
