Cromartie High School is an anime series that follows Takashi Kamiyama, a mild-mannered student who enrolls at a school populated entirely by delinquents. By the school's twisted logic, his very ordinariness makes him the toughest student around—a rabbit among lions. The series gleefully parodies every tough-guy anime trope imaginable, from gang hierarchies to absurd honor codes, with deadpan humor and surreal absurdity. Kamiyama navigates ridiculous situations with bemused detachment while his classmates treat him with unwarranted respect.
