Hiob(1978)

Hiob is a historical drama set in war-torn Galicia, following devout Jew Mendel Singer as his family fractures under the weight of conscription and exile. His eldest sons are drafted into the army; one escapes to Austria and eventually America, while their fragile newborn Menuchim is deemed too weak to emigrate. Mendel faces an agonizing choice between keeping his family together and securing their survival in the New World.
