Passport to Freedom is a historical drama about Aracy de Carvalho, a Brazilian consulate clerk who risks everything to save Jewish lives during World War II. For two years, she secretly issues passports without the mandatory "J" stamp that would mark holders for deportation to concentration camps. When diplomat João Guimarães Rosa arrives in Hamburg, the two form a passionate connection while continuing their dangerous work. The film chronicles their courage and romance against the backdrop of Nazi persecution. Aracy's heroism would later earn her recognition as Righteous Among the Nations, while Rosa went on to become Brazil's greatest twentieth-century writer. Their true story reveals how individual acts of defiance offered hope during humanity's darkest hour.
