Seaside Special(1975)
Seaside Special is a British light entertainment series that ran from 1975 to 1979, filmed live inside a traveling big top at seaside resorts across the UK. The show began using circus tents borrowed from traveling shows, but the BBC eventually purchased its own big top to serve as the permanent venue. Developed by producer Michael Hurll, the series captured the spirit of traditional British seaside entertainment with variety acts, comedy sketches, and musical performances. The format allowed the show to tour different coastal towns each season, bringing live spectacle and family-friendly fun to audiences nationwide. Seaside Special became a nostalgic fixture of late-1970s British television, blending the charm of seaside holidays with the energy of a circus-style revue.
