Gidget(1965)

Gidget is a 1960s sitcom starring Sally Field as the title character, a spirited teenage surfer navigating school, boys, and family life with her widowed father Russ Lawrence, a UCLA professor played by Don Porter. The series captures the sun-soaked California beach culture of the era through the eyes of a girl caught between adolescent independence and parental responsibility. Broadcast on ABC from September 1965 to April 1966, Gidget was among the network's first regularly scheduled color programs. Despite its vibrant setting and Field's charismatic performance, the show struggled in the Nielsen ratings and was cancelled after a single season, becoming a brief footnote in 1960s television history.
