Kubanacan(2003)

Kubanacan is a telenovela set in 1951 on a small Caribbean island nation struggling with economic hardship. After the president's death, General Carlos Camacho seizes power and establishes a dictatorship, then marries Mercedes, the beloved former first lady with whom he'd long been having an affair. In the coastal village of Santiago, a mysterious man washes ashore during a storm with a gunshot wound. Nursed back to health by the fisherman's wife Marisol, the amnesiac Esteban falls in love with her, creating a love triangle that drives her husband Enrico away. Seven years pass. Now in 1958, Marisol encounters the dictator Camacho himself, who tempts her with promises of escape from village poverty, offering her a life as his mistress and setting the stage for dangerous entanglements between the powerful and the powerless.
