Kath & Kim(2002)
Kath & Kim is an Australian sitcom created by and starring Jane Turner and Gina Riley as a dysfunctional suburban mother and daughter. Set in the fictional Melbourne suburb of Fountain Lakes, the series follows Kath Day-Knight, a cheerful 50-year-old, and her self-indulgent daughter Kim Craig, alongside Kim's estranged husband Brett, Kath's metrosexual boyfriend Kel Knight, and Kim's lonely best friend Sharon Strzelecki. Conceived in the early 1990s as a sketch on the comedy series Fast Forward, Kath & Kim evolved into a full series that premiered on ABC TV in May 2002. The show became a cultural phenomenon in Australia, winning Logie Awards and recognition at the Australian Film Institute Awards. It developed an international cult following, leading to an American adaptation that aired on NBC in 2008, with Turner and Riley serving as executive producers.
