Cuffy(1983)
Cuffy is a British sitcom from 1983 that spun off from the earlier comedy-drama Shillingbury Tales. Bernard Cribbins reprises his role as the titular character, moving from a supporting part to the centre of the action, joined by Jack Douglas as farmer Jake, Linda Hayden as his daughter Mandy, Nigel Lambert as Reverend Norris, and Diana King as the local spinster Mrs. Simkins. Creator Francis Essex brings the same rural English charm that defined Shillingbury Tales, now focusing on Cuffy's misadventures in the village. The series aired on ITV through Central Independent Television, the successor to the original production company. Cuffy captures the gentle, character-driven humour of early-1980s British television, blending quirky villagers and everyday situations into a warmly comic portrait of small-town life.
