The Marked Hour(1988)
The Marked Hour is a 1986 Mexican anthology series that brought horror and science fiction storytelling to Spanish-language television. Each episode presents a standalone tale in the tradition of The Twilight Zone, blending supernatural dread with speculative concepts. Though it remained largely unknown outside Mexico, the series became a cultural touchstone at home, attracting top creative talent behind the camera. The rotating roster of directors and writers included future Oscar winners Emmanuel Lubezki, Guillermo del Toro, and Alfonso Cuarón, who used the format to develop their distinctive visual and narrative styles. The Marked Hour stands as a landmark achievement in Mexican genre television and a proving ground for some of cinema's most celebrated filmmakers.
