The Star of the Seine is a 1975 anime series that aired on Fuji TV for 39 episodes. Produced by Sunrise and inspired by Alain Delon's 1963 film La Tulipe noire, the show follows characters navigating life and adventure along the Seine River in Paris. Created by Mitsuru Kaneko and directed by Masaaki Ōsumi and Yoshiyuki Tomino, the series blends classic European setting with anime storytelling. Sōji Yoshikawa penned the scripts while Akio Sugino designed the characters. Composer Shunsuke Kikuchi provided the score. Running from April through December 1975, The Star of the Seine captures the romance and intrigue of mid-century France through a distinctly Japanese animation lens.
