Balkanica is a Bosnian series set in the mountain town of Livno, where two friends navigate the dangerous world of migrant smuggling. Bakar and Struja have built a precarious living by illegally moving people across the Dinara into Croatia, a business that begins modestly but spirals into moral complexity. As each operation grows riskier, survival, greed, and loyalty collide. The series explores the grey economy of the Balkans—where desperation meets opportunity and friendship becomes a liability. Balkanica captures the tension of border life, where ordinary people make extraordinary choices to get by, and every decision carries consequences that ripple through their community.
