The Last Days of Pompeii(1984)

The Last Days of Pompeii is a historical drama set in the opulent Roman coastal city before Mount Vesuvius destroys it. The story follows competing ambitions among Pompeii's elite and working classes: Diomed, a merchant-turned-politician challenging the sitting magistrate; the cultivated Greek Glaucus; the gladiator Lydon; and the noble siblings Antonius and Ione. Their lives intersect through romance, power struggles, and the machinations of the corrupt priest Arbaces. Amid this tension, Christian slaves including Petrus and Chloe navigate persecution while seeking freedom. As social hierarchies clash and personal desires collide, the volcano's eruption looms—a catastrophe that will erase the city and its inhabitants from history. The film captures the final days before Pompeii vanishes forever.
