Fandorin. Azazello is a Russian series set in an alternate 2023 where the October Revolution never occurred and the Russian Empire remains intact under Tsar Nikolai III and Prime Minister Dmitry Orlov. Twenty-year-old police investigator Erast Fandorin joins the criminal investigations unit at Petrograd Metro, hoping for meaningful work. His chance comes when a wealthy oil magnate shoots himself in public, witnessed by dozens and captured on patrol robot cameras. Fandorin suspects the apparent suicide masks something far darker and launches his first major investigation into what becomes a complex web of conspiracy and deception at the heart of the capital.
