Detective Surprenant(2023)

Detective Surprenant is a Quebec crime series following a seasoned homicide investigator who left Montreal for the quiet Magdalen Islands, only to be drawn back into a brutal case when a teenage girl is murdered. Reluctant to abandon his hard-won peace, Surprenant partners with colleague Geneviève Savoie and a team of inexperienced local officers to hunt the killer. Tension mounts when an arrogant chief inspector from Quebec City arrives to take control of the investigation, clashing repeatedly with Surprenant over strategy and jurisdiction. The series balances procedural detective work with the isolated, claustrophobic atmosphere of island life, where secrets run deep and escape proves impossible.
