Hinge and Bracket is a British comedy series built on the stage personas of performers George Logan and Patrick Fyffe. Between 1972 and 2002, the pair entertained audiences as two eccentric elderly spinsters—Dr. Evadne Hinge and Dame Hilda Bracket—living genteel lives in the fictional village of Stackton Tressel. Their act celebrated imagined careers on the provincial operatic stage, blending musical performance with female impersonation comedy. Active across theatre, radio and television, the partnership became a fixture of British entertainment for three decades. Though the characters occasionally appeared separately, Logan retired the Dr. Hinge persona after Fyffe's death, marking the end of one of comedy's most enduring double acts.
