Sofía is a Spanish television film about the early life of Queen Sofia of Spain. Set in summer 1961 at the Greek royal palace of Mon Repos in Corfu, the story follows preparations for a crucial visit by the exiled Spanish royal family. The purpose is to formalize a potential union between Sofia, daughter of Greek King Paul and Queen Frederika, and Juan Carlos, son of Juan de Borbón. The two young royals had met briefly in London at the wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Kent.
