Grease Monkeys is a BBC comedy-drama that ran for two series between 2003 and 2004. Set at Grand Trunk Garage, the show follows Mo, a worried patriarch struggling to keep his ramshackle family business afloat. His daughter Rita is a gifted mechanic who cares far more about engines than romance or appearance, while his son Dave—charming, reckless, and frequently criminal—botches the sales side of things. Mo's troubles multiply with the ghost of his deceased wife haunting the premises and a dog that inexplicably talks. Beyond the family chaos, the garage attracts an eccentric cast of friends and regulars who only add to the mayhem. Harwant Bains created this blend of comedy and drama that mines humor from working-class life, family dysfunction, and the impossible task of running a business when nothing ever goes according to plan.
