Mysterious Passion(2016)

Mysterious Passion is a Soviet-era drama series that weaves together the lives of prominent Russian intellectuals and artists of the mid-twentieth century. Though the characters carry fictional names, they are unmistakably based on real figures: the poets Robert Rozhdestvensky, Yevgeny Yevtushenko, Andrei Voznesensky, and Bulat Okudzhava; the singer-songwriter Vladimir Vysotsky; the sculptor Ernst Neizvestny; and writer Vasily Aksenov, among others. The series captures the passionate creative and personal struggles of these cultural icons as they navigate artistic expression, political constraints, and complex relationships during a transformative period in Soviet history.
