The Prison Shift(2009)

The Prison Shift is the final installment in Iceland's Dagvaktin trilogy, following three men—Georg Bjarnfreðarson, Ólafur Ragnar, and Daníel—as they navigate life behind bars at the notorious Litla-Hraun prison. After the events of the previous series, the trio finds themselves incarcerated following a murder at a remote hotel. The dark comedy continues their misadventures in this confined setting, blending absurdist humor with character-driven storytelling. Originally broadcast on Icelandic television in autumn 2009, the series ran for seven episodes before concluding, with the story's final chapter told in the feature film Bjarnfreðarson. The show has since been released on DVD, cementing its place in Icelandic television history.
