De Mol is a Belgian reality game show that debuted in 1999, created by Woestijnvis and conceived by Michiel Devlieger, Bart de Pauw, Tom Lenaerts, and Michel Vanhove. The format became a global phenomenon, winning the Rose d'Or at Montreux in 2000 and licensing to over 40 countries worldwide. Contestants compete in challenges to earn prize money while trying to identify the mole—a saboteur planted among them whose job is to undermine the group's efforts. The original series ran on VRT 1 from 1998 to 2003 before the show was revived in 2016 on VIER (now PLAY). De Mol combines strategy, suspicion, and social dynamics as players navigate trust and deception in pursuit of the prize.
