A Praça é Nossa is a Brazilian comedy series that has aired on SBT since 1987. The show originated from a 1956 creation by Manuel de Nóbrega called A Praça da Alegria, built around a deceptively simple premise: a bench in a public square where an endless parade of characters interact and clash. The format proved durable enough to survive multiple channel jumps across Brazilian television history, from TV Paulista in 1957 through TV Record, TV Rio, and Rede Globo. After a brief hiatus, the concept was revived in 1987 by Manuel's son Carlos Alberto de Nóbrega at SBT under its current title. The sketch-based comedy has remained a fixture of Brazilian television for over three decades, relying on physical humor and character-driven scenarios set within its iconic plaza setting.
