The Grand(1997)

The Grand is a British drama series following the Bannerman family as they reopen their historic hotel after the First World War. John and Sarah Bannerman pour their remaining resources into refurbishing the Grand, hoping to restore their family's fortunes. Their son Stephen returns from the trenches physically unscathed but haunted by the horrors of war. When their accountant disappears with their funds, the family faces financial ruin. They're forced to turn to John's estranged brother Marcus, a ruthless businessman who abandoned the hotel years ago. Now Marcus sees opportunity in the struggling establishment, and his arrival threatens to transform everything the Bannermans have built. Created by Russell T Davies, The Grand explores ambition, family loyalty, and the scars left by conflict in post-war Britain.
