The Hip Hop Years(1999)

The Hip Hop Years is a three-part documentary series that traces hip hop's evolution from the Bronx streets to global cultural dominance. Made for Channel 4 in 1999, the series combines archive footage, live performances, and interviews with key figures in the genre to tell hip hop's definitive story. Director and narrator David Upshal weaves together clips from television, film, and music videos with newly shot material to capture how hip hop became what he calls "the new Rock'n'Roll."
