Broadcast across 43 episodes from March 1989 to January 1990, the show follows a powerful hero battling injustice with dynamic action and colorful character design typical of the era. A concurrent manga serialized in Comic Bom Bom complemented the anime's run. The series became culturally significant when professional wrestler Jushin "Thunder" Liger adopted the character's name and adopted the opening theme "Ikari no Jushin" as his entrance music, blending anime and wrestling culture in an unusual crossover that endured throughout his legendary career.
