Heroes II: The Return is a 1991 Australian mini-series dramatizing Operation Rimau, one of World War II's most audacious raids. In September 1944, commandos led by Ivan Lyon—22 Australian and British troops—infiltrated Singapore to sabotage Japanese vessels. Discovered just miles from their target, they faced a desperate flight toward Australia. The series chronicles both the mission's harrowing events and its bitter aftermath: thirteen men were killed during the escape, while the surviving ten were executed by Japanese forces in a war crime. The tragedy deepened when the killings were concealed and their perpetrators went unpunished. The fallen soldiers received no official recognition for their sacrifice, their heroism buried alongside the truth for years.
