When publishing mogul Bradford Meade appoints his son Daniel to run Mode magazine, he hires Betty as Daniel's assistant—primarily because he believes she's the only woman in Manhattan who won't fall into his son's romantic trap. Thrust into the glamorous but cutthroat world of high fashion, Betty must navigate office politics, her own ambitions, and the clash between her working-class values and the magazine's elite culture. Her journey becomes one of self-discovery as she proves that substance and integrity matter more than surface appearances in an industry obsessed with style.
