Hallelujah!(1981)

Hallelujah! is a British sitcom that aired on ITV from April 1983 to December 1984. Set in a Salvation Army citadel in the fictional Yorkshire town of Brigthorpe, the series follows Captain Emily Ridley, a devoted member of the Salvation Army for 42 years, as she arrives determined to root out sin lurking behind the town's respectable façade. Assisted by her niece Alice Meredith, Emily takes on the moral crusade with characteristic zeal. The comedy reunited creator Dick Sharples with star Thora Hird, who had previously collaborated on In Loving Memory. The series featured guest appearances from Michael Aldridge and television presenter Richard Whiteley, bringing additional star power to this warmly satirical look at small-town propriety and religious conviction.
