The Long Hot Summer(1985)

The Long Hot Summer is a drama following a drifter who disrupts a Mississippi family's carefully ordered world. When Ben Quick rolls into town, patriarch Will Varner spots potential in him—more promise than in his own son, Jody. Will schemes to marry Ben off to his daughter Clara, hoping to secure the family business through an outsider rather than his disappointing heir. Clara resists the arrangement, while Jody grows increasingly hostile, sensing his inheritance slipping away.
