The Men's Room(1991)

The Men's Room is a British television drama miniseries that aired on the BBC in 1991. This five-part series, adapted from Ann Oakley's 1989 novel by Laura Lamson, stars Bill Nighy, Harriet Walter, Amanda Redman, Charlotte Cornwell and James Aubrey. Set during the Thatcher era, it's a darkly comic period piece centred on an affair between two academics: Charity Walton, a devoted wife and mother, and Mark Carleton, a serial womanizer. The series explores the collision between respectability and desire against the backdrop of 1980s Britain. Nighy has cited The Men's Room as his breakthrough role, marking a turning point in his early career.
