Kim's Convenience is a comedy-drama series following the Kim family, Korean-Canadian owners of a downtown Toronto convenience store. Appa and Umma immigrated in the 1980s and built their business near Regent Park, raising two children: Jung and Janet, now young adults. A violent confrontation between Appa and teenage Jung—triggered by theft and physical conflict—drove Jung from home years ago, leaving father and son estranged. The show explores their fractured relationship alongside the daily rhythms of family life and the store, balancing humor with genuine emotional depth as the Kims navigate identity, belonging, and reconciliation in their adopted city.
