Psycho(2018)

Psycho is a 2018 Syrian satirical comedy starring Amal Arafa in five different roles. Wasal is a pathologically honest woman whose inability to lie creates constant chaos in her life. After accidentally obtaining a CD that exposes corrupt officials, she becomes their target and is wrongfully committed to a psychiatric hospital while her twin sister assumes her identity. What follows is a chaotic, darkly funny chase across Syria and Lebanon as Wasal fights to reclaim her life and expose the truth. The film blends sharp social commentary with physical comedy, using Arafa's multi-role performance to explore themes of identity, corruption, and the cost of honesty in a system designed to silence it.
