French Fields is a British sitcom that aired for 19 episodes between 1989 and 1991. A spin-off of the earlier series Fresh Fields, it follows William and Hester Fields after they relocate to Calais when William takes a job with a French company. Anton Rodgers and Julia McKenzie reprise their roles as the married couple navigating life in their new French home, Les Hirondelles. The ensemble cast includes their real estate agent neighbour Chantal, the snobbish English couple the Trendles, the elderly and largely unintelligible Madame Remoleux who maintains the estate, and local mayor Monsieur Dax with his daughter Marie-Christine, whom Hester attempts to teach English. Nicholas Courtney appears regularly as the Marquis. Written by John T. Chapman and Ian Davidson, French Fields was produced by Thames Television for ITV.
