Early Swallows(2019)

Early Swallows is a Ukrainian series that follows a group of secondary school teenagers navigating harsh realities rarely shown on local television. The students face relentless bullying, online stalking by an anonymous predator, and pressure from the Blue Whale Challenge. Beyond school walls, they contend with absent or alcoholic parents, speech disabilities, and the struggle to understand their own identities—including LGBT experiences. Suicide and self-harm loom as genuine threats rather than plot devices. The show unflinches from these dark themes, treating adolescent trauma with gravity while exploring how isolation and digital danger compound the isolation of growing up.
