Beginners!(2012)

Beginners is a Japanese drama series following Shimura Teppei, a former delinquent who joins the police academy after his father abandons the family. Inspired by childhood memories of his policeman father and encouraged by his best friend Yuichi, Teppei passes the recruitment exam and enrolls, determined to turn his life around. But his dreams of becoming a dedicated officer are complicated when he's assigned to a remedial class of misfits and underperformers. Alongside six other struggling recruits, Teppei faces daily menial tasks under the watchful eye of assistant instructor Ryuzaki Misaki. The series explores whether this ragtag group of rejects can prove themselves worthy of the badge, or if they're destined to remain the academy's biggest failures.
