Black Lightning follows Jefferson Pierce, a high school principal and devoted father of two daughters in New Orleans who leads a double life. By day, he runs a charter school that serves as a sanctuary for young people trapped in a neighborhood plagued by gang violence. By night, Jefferson transforms into Black Lightning, a superhero with electrical powers determined to protect his community from the forces destroying it. Torn between his responsibilities as an educator and parent and his calling as a vigilante, Jefferson must navigate the dangerous consequences of his secret identity while fighting to save the people he loves most. The series explores themes of justice, sacrifice, and the cost of heroism in a community desperate for change.
