Chasing the Undercurrent is a crime drama series following Chang Zheng, vice captain of the criminal police brigade, as he investigates a shooting at a suburban villa. His arrest of suspect Zhao Pengxiang sets off a chain of revelations: Zhao Pengcheng's death implicates Zhao Pengxiang's brother, an inspector, who becomes a fugitive. When a covert Ministry of Public Security task force arrives to uncover the truth, Chang Zheng finds himself torn between loyalty to family and duty to the law. As the investigation deepens, he uncovers shocking secrets about his own identity. Forced to choose between personal ties and justice, Chang Zheng ultimately sides with the task force to bring the criminals to account.
