Get Smart(1965)
Agent 86 is face to face with danger again "and loving it!"
Get Smart is an American comedy series that brilliantly satirizes the spy-thriller genre. Created by Mel Brooks and Buck Henry, it stars Don Adams as bumbling secret agent Maxwell Smart, alongside Barbara Feldon and Edward Platt. The show mines laughs from the collision of James Bond glamour and slapstick absurdity—a deliberately "insane combination," as Brooks described it. Maxwell stumbles through assignments for the intelligence agency CONTROL, constantly foiling his own missions while somehow saving the day. The series became a cultural phenomenon, spawning two theatrical films, a 1995 revival, and a 2008 remake. Its iconic opening title sequence ranked among TV's greatest ever. Get Smart remains the only Mel Brooks production to feature a laugh track, blending his anarchic sensibility with the conventions of espionage entertainment.
