Stockinger(1996)

Stockinger is an Austrian police drama that aired from 1996 to 1997 across fourteen 45-minute episodes. A spin-off from the popular series Inspector Rex, the show follows Ernst Stockinger, a homicide detective who transfers to Salzburg after his wife inherits her father's dental practice. There, he takes a post as district inspector with the regional gendarmerie, sharing an office with colleague Antonella Simoni. Unlike the independent operators in Rex, Stockinger answers to Dr Brunner, a philosophical bureaucrat who oversees his work. The character himself is portrayed as clumsy and accident-prone—reminiscent of Inspector Clouseau—yet dogged in his pursuit of leads. He drives a battered 1973 VW Variant through the Alpine region's crime scenes, combining physical mishaps with genuine detective work.
