The Job of the Ferret(1993)

The Job of the Ferret is a dystopian film adapted from Jean-Pierre Andrevon's novel. The Ferret is a special unit tasked with "reducing" the population to maintain this limit. The protagonist works as one of these agents, carrying out his duties mechanically and without question—until he begins to think for himself. The film's title references Andrevon's original novel, "The Job of the Ferret Inside the Chicken Coop," a darkly ironic commentary on state-mandated population management and individual moral awakening in a dehumanized society.
