Arena(1967)

Arena is a wartime drama set in an occupied European city, where a military commandant forces circus performers from across Europe into servitude. Drawn from camps and labor camps, these artists initially accept their degrading circumstances. But a series of escalating events ignites their resistance. Unarmed and outmatched against the garrison's guards, the performers stage a doomed uprising. Though they perish in the rebellion, their sacrifice becomes an act of reclaimed dignity—a final assertion of humanity against their oppressors. The film explores themes of survival, resistance, and the price of freedom under occupation.
