Romance

Everybody Knows Kadkin is a Soviet drama about a returning soldier who finds himself an unlikely guardian. Kuzma Kadkin, a boastful veteran, strikes up a conversation on a train with a young mother traveling with her infant son. When she steps off at a junction to fetch water and misses the train's departure, Kadkin is left holding her one-and-a-half-year-old child. With no way to reunite them immediately, he takes the boy home, setting in motion an unexpected bond between the gruff soldier and the abandoned infant. The film explores themes of responsibility, compassion, and redemption as Kadkin's self-assured persona is tested by the demands of caring for a helpless child.
