Africa
Africa(2017)
Africa is a drama following Nika, a young woman who returns home after volunteering abroad, only to find her relationship with her mother Diana strained and complicated. Diana, a free-spirited party enthusiast who pursues younger men, represents everything Nika has grown to reject through her humanitarian work. Their clashing values and lifestyles create tension as Nika struggles to reconnect with a parent who seems determined to live without responsibility or restraint. The film explores the generational divide between a daughter shaped by purpose and sacrifice, and a mother consumed by hedonism and escapism. As they navigate their fractured bond, both must confront uncomfortable truths about themselves and each other. Africa examines how time and distance can widen the gap between family members, and whether understanding—or forgiveness—is possible when two people have become strangers.
